Just when there was nothing going on in my life another egg appeared in our abandoned nest. One lonely little egg. Sam noticed this afternoon that there was a Robin sitting in the nest. I took a peek when no one was looking. I had seen a bird earlier this week that looked like it was repairing the nest. I had left it there just in case since I read that a bird might have two or three nestings in a season. Do birds care if they are an only chick?

Continue to watch the nest. Robins lay only one egg per day. Don't think that this is information I had right on the top of my head. I looked it up. Mainly to see if the mama bird would ignore the nest if she had only one egg. That's how I learned she lays one a day. And now you're wanting to know the reason. Tra-la. Female birds have one working ovary, unlike mammals, which have two. Fascinating, huh.
like mother like daughter. you two are a lot alike.
Yaya was right. Today there was another egg in the nest. Susan, next door, has 5 eggs in a nest in her fern. I think there is a possibility that two robins have laid eggs there but I need to look it up . .
I love those words "Yaya was right" . . . :)
